Days 1–2: Cape Town Arrival & Cape Peninsula Adventure

Arrive in Cape Town and overnight at a city-centre hotel, or family accommodation in a private villa on the slopes of Table Mountain with sweeping views across the city and Table Bay. Ideal for multi-generational families needing an inter-connected room for parents with young ones, separate rooms for elder family members.

Set at the confluence of the Indian and Atlantic oceans and backed by the iconic Table Mountain, the bustling city of Cape Town presents an alluring combination of drawcards. Incredible powdery white beaches, highly acclaimed wine routes, and astonishingly beautiful mountain trails surround a cosmopolitan hub. This diverse metropolis is filled with superb shops and restaurants, extraordinary heritage monuments, a multitude of entertainment venues, and a spectacular, chic waterfront harbour.

On Day 2, take a scenic tour of the Cape Peninsula: drive Chapman’s Peak, walk to historic shipwrecks, and swim with African penguins at Boulders Beach. End the day with fresh seafood at a lively harbor-side restaurant, perfect for all tastes and ages.

Day 3: Explore Cape Town’s west coast, lagoon kayak or paddle boarding, West Coast Fossil Park

Venture up the Cape’s west coast to the fascinating Fossil Park where kids can see saber-toothed cats and ancient giraffes. After lunch on the beach, enjoy kayaking or paddle-boarding in the calm waters of the Langebaan Lagoon. Return to Cape Town for dinner and a relaxing evening. Ideal for curious minds and energetic youngsters.

Day 4: Table Mountain and leisure time to shop/catch up from jetlag

Take the cable car up Table Mountain for an easy walk to McClears Beacon—spectacular views and geology for all ages. The afternoon is yours to rest, explore the V&A Waterfront, or shop local artisan markets. Dinner at your leisure. A perfect pause day to adjust to jetlag or unwind after adventure.

Days 5–6: Cape Winelands Wine Safari
Set just over an hour from Cape Town, within the inspiring landscapes of the Cape Winelands, Franschhoek is a heritage town and a world-renowned food and wine destination. Guests could choose to focus their visit on any one aspect alone – nature, cuisine or culture – and find plenty to keep them busy. The estates here attract wine experts from around the globe with their Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cap Classique sparkling wine (among others). Five-star restaurants alongside the cellars are surrounded by the same jaw-dropping valley scenes that have brought artists and writers to the area for centuries.

A superb literary festival takes place around May every year, and, combined with the town’s Cape Dutch manor houses, fascinating museums, and charming boutiques, makes Franschhoek a wonderful place to visit in winter. Summer provides endless hiking, cycling and other outdoor opportunities among the lush farmlands and mountains.

The reserve also offers guided bush walks led by armed rangers, providing a deeper understanding and immersion into the essence of the African wilderness.

This camp offers a comprehensive Children’s Programme designed to both entertain and educate young guests about the African bush. Upon arrival, children aged 4 to 12 receive a special backpack containing an interactive checklist, bird and mammal coloring books, lip balm, and water. The camp’s rangers tailor activities based on each child’s age, enthusiasm, and independence, in collaboration with parents and guardians.

Children’s Activities Include:

  • Animal Tracking: Learning to identify various animals by their spoor (tracks) and markings.
  • Survival Skills: Understanding how to find water, identifying edible and medicinal plants, and recognizing warning signs of dangerous animals.
  • Bushcraft: Participating in activities like making fire and preparing meals in the bush.
  • Bush Breakfasts: Experiencing outdoor meals that teach children how to make a fire and assist in meal preparation.
  • Radio Communication: Learning the basics of communicating on the camp’s radio system (outside of game drive times).
  • Special Meals: Enjoying child-friendly meals and “ration packs” during game drives.

These activities are crafted to foster a deep connection with nature and provide memorable experiences for children of all ages.

Combining Constellations & Safari – Stargazing at this camp offers an extraordinary opportunity to connect with the African night sky, far from light pollution. As part of the immersive bush experience, guests can enjoy guided stargazing sessions led by expert rangers who share their knowledge of constellations, planets, and celestial phenomena visible in the Southern Hemisphere. The vast, open skies above MalaMala offer stunning views, making it an unforgettable experience for those looking to explore the wonders of the universe while surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.
